I have lived in the North Valley in Albuquerque for almost 20 years and love painting the local landscapes. The beauty and variety of the Sandias, the Bosque, and the nearby Jemez Mountains are always inspiring.
I grew up in a family of artists and gardeners, and sketched and painted from a young age. I majored in painting at Rhode Island School of Design where drawing, composition, and expressive color were emphasized. Now retired from teaching, I can spend more time outdoors and in the garden. Botanical studies from the garden always inspire and inform my understanding of form and color.
Whether working on large-scale oil landscapes of the Grand Canyon or smaller watercolor sketches from my travels, my inspiration invariably comes from the natural world.
I live in the Village of Los Ranchos de Albuquerque, where I share a studio with my husband, artist David Welch. DavidWelchArt.com
