Oil Paintings

Over a lifetime of painting I have come to enjoy the process of preparing a canvas: stretching, priming, and sanding the painting’s surface. I love the sketching and painting phase even more. I try to balance expressive, energetic, gestural brushstrokes with careful observation. My color is somewhat spontaneous and abstract, with a nod to Hans Hoffman, but the color is usually more subservient to an underlying structure.
